GOLDEN, CO – The preparation continued as the Colorado Christian track and field teams prepared for the RMAC Championships while posting NCAA Championship marks.
At the Mines Pre-Conference Invite on Saturday, the Cougars had two runners post automatic qualifications and another tally a provisional qualifying time.
MEN'S RECAP
Distance
Alex Vance posted an NCAA provisional time in his first attempt in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The freshman posted a raw time of 9:25.19 which converted to a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:07.90.
In a 10,000 meter race that featured numerous All-Americans, and a former NCAA Cross Country champion, saw Ryder Searle and Josh Pierantoni run a raw time of 30:12.07 and 30:14.64 respectively. Their altitude adjusted times were NCAA provisional times as Searle posted a 29:01.96 and Pierantoni a 29:04.43 for automatic qualification into the NCAA Championships.
Sprints
Tyler Bradley lowered his school record to 10.616 which was .002 seconds quicker than the second place finisher to claim the day's fastest time.
The duo of Aidan Day (1:55.36) and Jeremy Miller (1:56.05) placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 800 meter race.
Field Events
Jaxon Hinch placed second in the high jump with his best effort of 2.02 meters (6 feet, 7.5 inches)
WOMEN'S RECAP
Distance
Christy Shuster put together a third place finish with a time of 4:44.53. Just a few ticks of a second from her personal best time.
The diversity of the squad was shown as Elizabeth Mattson and Callie Ketner ran the 3000 meter steeplechase for the first time in their careers. Mattson ran a 12:16.56 while Ketner followed with a 12:25.75.
Sprints
Hannah George final race before the league championships next week saw her post a time of 12.71 in the 100 meter dash for a sixth place finish.
Rachel Lucas ran the first hurdle race of her career as she posted a time of 1:09.18 in the 400 meter race.
Field Events
Grace McCartney set a school best mark of 1.51 meters (4 feet, 11.5 inches) in the high jump during her second attempt at the height.
