GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The regular season is over and the Cougars still have games to play.
Despite dropping their Saturday contest to No. 1 Colorado Mesa by an 11-1 count, Colorado Christian will make plans for next week's RMAC Tournament.
Colorado Christian earned the tournament's sixth seed and will play the Mavericks for a fifth straight time next week in Grand Junction. The six-team event begins on Wednesday, May 19 and is a double-elimination tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED: On Saturday the Mavericks put together a 14-hit attack as they scored a run in six of the eight innings they put a batter at the plate.
The home team opened the game with a run in the first inning but the Cougars responded in the third stanza when a Luke Thompson infield single led to an error which allowed Wyatt Crenshaw to step on home plate.
However, that tie scored wouldn't last long as the Mavericks scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning and they never relented. While Colorado Christian couldn't get a runner into scoring position the rest of the contest the Mavericks top ranked offense continued to pile up runs.
COUGAR LEADERS: Blake Mattey put together a two-hit game to led the team which banged out six total hits.
UP NEXT: The RMAC Tournament hosted by Colorado Mesa.
