The Cougars jumped out early on Black Hills State as Senior
Christen Curry netted the opening two baskets of the game to put Colorado Christian ahead 4-0 early in the first quarter. The Cougars had a great opening quarter shooting the ball as they hit 6-13 from the floor and also was perfect from the free throw line hitting all six of their attempts from the charity stripe. After the first quarter CCU remained out in front by a score of 19-15.
Colorado Christian kept the pressure on Black Hills State in the second quarter as they were able to extend their lead heading into halftime leading 33-28. The Cougars was led in scoring in the first half by
Jordyn Brown who tallied seven points shooting 3-6 from the floor.
Christen Curry also had an impressive first half finishing with six points on 3-5 shooting. Colorado Christian had a major advantage as well in rebounding as they grabbed 23 total rebounds in the half compared to just 18 from Black Hills.
Grace Field led the way in rebounding totaling eight in the first 20 minutes of play.
The Yellow Jackets made some adjustments at half time and came out on fire to begin the third quarter. Black Hills outscored the Cougars 26-15 in the quarter to take the lead 54-48 heading into the fourth quarter. Black Hills State played stingy defense in the final period as they held CCU to just 11 points which allowed them to secure the victory by a final score of 70-59.
Sophomore
Grace Field had a good game statistically as she notched a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. This is the second consecutive game in which Field notched a double-double.
Mia Guest and
Jordyn Brown both finished the game with nine points each. Despite the loss, it was a great team effort by the Cougars as every player tallied at least two points in the game.
