RAPID CITY, SD – The Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines dealt a loss to the Cougars on Saturday afternoon, taking the victory by 15 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED – A slow start for Colorado Christian put them at a disadvantage that they were unable to recover from, as the first quarter saw the Hardrockers scoring 22 and holding the Cougars to just 8. From then on the teams were point for point, with their combined scores in the following three quarters having only a 1-point difference.
Despite being down by 20 points in the third, the Cougars continued to improve their game and shortened the difference to 7 with just over six minutes left. South Dakota Mines did not waver and gradually had their double-digit lead back after capitalizing on turnovers and free throws.
Leading the team in points was
Sophia Karasinski, tallying 13 after going 8-8 from the charity stripe.
Jordyn Brown and
Sydney Daniels rounded out the leader board with 9 points each.
Grace Field and
Agnes Paul led in rebounds, with 10 and 8 respectively.
UP NEXT – The loss gives CCU an overall record of 6-16, and an RMAC record of 3-13. The team will have a quick turnaround as they will host the Skyhawks of Fort Lewis in a make up game on Monday, February 14
th at 4pm.
