LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian began their final weekend of home basketball with a matchup against UCCS. The Cougars battled but ultimately fell to the Mountain Lions 72-51.
HOW IT HAPPENED- Agnes Paul scored the first points of the game with a jumper, and Christen Curry drilled consecutive jumpers to take the lead 8-6. A defensive battle ensued from there and UCCS took a 15-12 lead to the second.
Curry continued to be scorching hot from midrange, hitting another two jumpers to bring her team within one. The Mountain Lions went on a run, but Sydney Daniels cut into the lead with a jumper. UCCS converted several shots to take a 32-21 lead into the break.
Jordyn Brown got the Cougars second half started with a jumper, but UCCS continued to pull further ahead. Daniels drilled a late three but the Mountain Lions took a 53-36 lead to the final frame.
Brown and Paul hit jumpers to begin the quarter, and Daniels got in the action with a jumper of her own. Curry hit a jumper and a free throw, but in the end it was the Mountain Lions who came away with the 72-51 victory.
COUGARS LEADERS:
Christen Curry led her team with 15 points while Tessa Hauser pulled down five boards. Mia Guest paced the squad with three assists.
