GAME ONE:
Alexis Hamilton took the mound for the Cougars in the first contest, and the score remained tied through three innings. Samaria Roope changed that quickly in the top of the fourth with a three-run blast with Piper Lujan and Sydney Reamer on base. Simon Fraser scratched runs across the plate in the fifth and sixth, but that was the only runs they would score all game. Roope doubled to score Ellie Sather in the sixth, and a Sami Edwards sac fly and Reamer single to score Taylor Olsen was icing on a 6-2 win. Hamilton picked up a victory for the second straight day, allowing seven hits and two runs in a complete game win.Ā
GAME TWO:
Sydney Rawling pitched game two for the Cougars, and put on an impressive display against Eastern New Mexico. The Greyhounds did not score through four innings, and their single run in the fifth was all they could manage. Meanwhile the offense got to work in the fourth as Kayla Middleton racked up three RBI with a bases clearing double. Taylor Olsen provided an insurance run in the fifth with a solo homer as the Cougars went 2-0 on the day with a 4-1 victory.Ā
