Colorado Christian took to the field Sunday afternoon to wrap up their four-game series against New Mexico Highlands. The Cougars once again impressed with their offensive prowess as they jumped out to an early lead and won by a final score of 17-9.

The Cougars began the game on fire at the plate as the first eight batters all reached to put pressure on Highlands immediately. Frankie Shearn started things off for CCU with a single, then stole second to get into scoring position.
Eli Ludwig followed with a single of his own advancing Shearn to third which brought up
Wyatt Crenshaw. Crenshaw connected with a pitch and deposited it over the outfield wall to give the Cougs an early 3-0 before recording an out. The momentum continued as
Jordan Medina doubled followed by a walk by
Gabe Ramos.
Luke Thompson hit an RBI double to score Medina, then
Andrew Lloyd doubled to score two more runs. The first inning scoring concluded with Frankie Shearn's second single of the inning which scored
Andrew Lloyd to give CCU the early 7-0 lead.

Jordan Medina hit a sacrifice fly to add to the Cougars lead in the second inning, then Highlands attempted to mount a comeback in their half of the inning. They scored four runs in the second to cut the lead in half, but that was as close as they would get in the game.
Eli Ludwig collected an RBI single in the third inning which scored
Boedy Flores who had singled to lead off the inning. After holding Highlands scoreless in the bottom of the third, the Cougars put the game out of reach in the fourth inning. CCU scored six more runs to lead 15-4.

NMHU scored four runs in the fourth inning and added one more run in the sixth inning. In the seventh inning,
Aaron Morgan hit a sacrifice fly to score
Wyatt Crenshaw who singled earlier in the inning.
Andrew Lloyd concluded the scoring for the Cougars on the day as he had another RBI double to score
Cole Douglass who was on base thanks to a bunt single. That gave CCU a 17-9 lead, which ended up being the final score.

Colorado Christian had a very impressive weekend at the plate during the four-game series. As a team, they scored 52 runs and collected 63 hits on their way to winning three out of four games in the opening series for RMAC conference play. The top of the lineup did an amazing job producing and getting on base in all four games. Leadoff hitter Frankie Shearn finished the weekend going 10-19 scoring six runs and had seven RBI.
Eli Ludwig went 11-19, scored nine runs and collected seven RBI.
Wyatt Crenshaw was the power source for the team as he went 9-17 with nine runs and 11 RBI. Eight of the nine hits for Crenshaw went for extra bases including three homeruns, three triples and two doubles.

CCU has now won three straight games to improve their record to 5-11 overall, and 3-1 in conference play. The team will return home from New Mexico and be looking to continue to build on the momentum they gained from the big weekend. The Cougars will square off at home against Regis for a four-game series beginning Friday March 11
th at 2PM. Â Â
