Both the men's and women's track and field teams continued their outdoor season as they competed in the Maverick Classic hosted Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction, CO. The teams continued their strong seasons as they had strong performances from several athletes at the meet. Paige Tack ran an impressive time in the 10K which was good enough to qualify her for the NCAA Provisional List. In fact, her time currently has her tied for seventh for best in the nation so far this season.
 
Paige Tack competed in the 10K and finished with a time of 36:38.98 which was good enough to earn third place in the event. Her impressive time has her qualified for a chance to compete at the NCAA Championships later this year.
 
Tara Smoker also impressed in the 400M race as she finished with a time of 57.95. That time earned her a top 10 finish in the event and smashed the school record by over two seconds. The previous best was held by Meghan Mazza who ran a time of 1:00.06 back in 2018.
 
On the men's side, Luke Meyer also impressed in the 10K as he collected a top 10 finish in the event coming in seventh with a time of 31:38.97. Colorado Christian had 10 runners compete in the 1500M event and three of them came in with times under four minutes. Hudson Majeski led the way with a time of 3:54.72, followed closely by teammate Alexander Vance with a time of 3:55.03. Chase Bracher finished with a time of 3:59.84.
 
Head coach Jon Poag spoke about the strong performances after the meet saying, "We are building great momentum heading into the most important part of the season. I am excited to see how the group progresses next week at the CU Invitational."
 
As coach Poag alluded to, next up for the teams will be a trip to Boulder to compete at the CU Invitational. The meet will begin on Friday April 8^th and conclude on Saturday April 9^th.
