The Cougars took to the pitch on Saturday night looking to avenge the loss in their last game out as they squared off against St. Cloud State University. The offense was firing on all cylinders as the Cougars dominated in all facets of the game to win by a final score of 3-0. The Cougs dominated nearly every facet of the game as they came away with the victory in Minnesota.
Â
It didn't take long for CCU to break into the scoring column as
Silas Hess netted the first goal of the game just over eight minutes into the start of the first half. It was a great setup from teammate
Miguel Fonseca who dribbled the ball through the box to the left of the net and then centered a pass to
Silas Hess who struck it with his left foot and delivered it into the back of the net.
Â
Adrian Diez got into the action next as he controlled the ball near the top of the box and rocketed a shot past the St. Cloud State goalkeeper to put the Cougars up 2-0 with just over thirteen minutes left in the first half.
Lucca Casci and
Zane Jacobson were credited with assists on the goal by Diez.
Â
The final goal of the night came later in the second half and was a thing of beauty as CCU goalie
Michel Pinoncely took a free kick deep in the Cougars zone. Pinoncely connected and sent the ball deep into St. Cloud State territory where
Gabe Roloff played it on the bounce and headed the ball into the upper right corner of the net. Pinoncely collects his first assist on the year, and it was the team leading third goal of the season for Roloff.

Head coach
Brad Camp, "Such a good bounce back victory. The boys really attacked well tonight in the first half. They were able to get the ball down, possessed it well, and combined well together in order to pass through the other team. That was really the key of the game for us and it helped us secure the win. The second half was more about fighting hard, defending, and trying to find that third goal. I was really excited with the boys tonight because they showed quality and they showed heart, both of which are needed to win soccer games."
Â
With the win, the Cougars record improves to 2-1-1 early on the season. The game tonight marks the fourth straight road matchup for the Cougars to begin the season. They will be back home for their next game as it will be the home opener for the Cougars when they take on Adams State on Friday September 9
th at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, CO
