WBB Victorious Against Fort Lewis

Colorado Christian wrapped up their weekend home series against Fort Lewis College on Saturday night in a conference matchup. The Skyhawks came into the matchup after suffering a five point loss to Chadron State last night.
 
The Cougars jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter as they quickly grabbed the lead early in the first quarter. CCU took a 28-12 lead after the first quarter of play thanks to some great shooting, along with stellar defense. The Cougs shot 10-22 (45%) from the field in the first quarter, while holding Fort Lewis to just 3-14 from the floor.
 
CCU continued to exert their dominance in the second quarter as they extended their lead heading into halftime leading 50-23. The Cougars continued their hot shooting as they hit 8-12 shots from the field in the second quarter including 3-4 from beyond the three point line. CCU wrapped up the first half shooting nearly 53% from the field while holding Fort Lewis to just 23%.
 
In the second half, CCU continued to play well as they kept Fort Lewis from getting back into the game. They played stellar defense and that resulted in them coming away with the victory by a final score of 90-61.
 
Five Cougars finished the game in double figures as they were led by Dasiya Jones who scored 16 points in the game to go along with eight rebounds. Maggie Hutka had a great game as she finished with a double-double as she had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Also finishing in double figures was Maggie Phipps with 13 points, Nicole Bowlin with 12 points and Regan LoConte who finished with 10 points.
 
With the win tonight, the Cougars record improves to 7-10 overall and 3-8 in conference play. They will be back in action next week as they hit the road and head to Regis University on Friday January 20th tipping off at 5PM MST. They will then return home on Saturday where they will take on UCCS.
