DURANGO, CO- Colorado Christian headed south for their second RMAC competition of the season as they took on Fort Lewis Sunday afternoon. After falling behind with a first half from the Skyhawks, CCU showed resilience as they leveled in the second half for a 1-1 tie.
The offense got to work early on as Dumisani Luthayi took an early look. Matthew Beaulieu then forced a save on a shot on goal. In the 21st minute, Fort Lewis struck with a goal to take the early lead. Caiden Dixon tallied a shot that missed right, and the two teams went to the half with the hosts leading 1-0.Â
Keeper Michel Pinoncely made an early save to keep his team within a goal, and later Lucca Casci forced a Skyhawks save. Gabe ROloff had a shot on goal saved in the 61st minute, but Dixon alertly followed and slotted his shot home to tie the game at 1-1. From there, neither team could get off a shot on goal as the defenses played strong and the two teams finished with a 1-1 draw in Durango.Â
Colorado Christian had four shots on goal with a total of 10 shots. They took a pair of corners, while each team had 12 fouls.Â
CCU will look to remain unbeaten in conference play as they return home to take on CSU Pueblo on October 6 at 1 p.m. MST.
