Colorado Christian Dominate Chadron State for Third Straight Win

CHADRON, NE- The Cougars traveled to Nebraska for a road conference matchup at Chadron State on Tuesday evening. CCU controlled the game from beginning to end, claiming a convincing victory by a final score of 70-46.

Maggie Phipps got the offense going with a three-pointer, and later Maggie Hutka gave her team the lead with a jumper. Another connection from Hutka ended a low scoring first quarter with the Cougars leading 9-8.

Agnes Paul hit an early jumper to start the second, while Dasiya Jones maintained the lead with a jumper of her own. Regan LoConte then drilled a three-pointer followed by a three from Phipps to extend the lead to five at 21-16. The lead stayed there as the halftime buzzer sounded with the Cougars ahead 25-20.

The offense started to click for the visitors in the second half, as a pair of threes from LoConte and Jones sent the Cougars ahead nine. Phipps and Victoria Perez connected from beyond the arc as the lead continued to grow, and a Hutka jumper stretched the lead to 15 at 43-28. Jenna Kendall closed the third quarter with a jumper to send her team into the final period leading 46-30.

LoConte continued her excellent night with another three to start the fourth, and she later hit a jumper as the lead sat at 20. The teams battled back and forth from there as the lead was never threatened. Mia Guest drilled a three late, and Jones finished the scoring with a jumper to close a 70-46 victory.

LoConte and Jones each scored 13 points to pace the offense, while Hutka pulled down nine rebounds. Perez had an incredible overall night, scoring eight points, dishing out eight assists and recording an astounding nine steals.

With a third straight conference win in hand, CCU will return home on December 16 for a matchup with UCCS at 2 p.m. MST.
