Box Score MONMOUTH, OR- Colorado Christian finished up their road-trip to the Pacific Northwest with a matchup against Western Oregon on Saturday. The Cougars battled but in the end took their first loss of the season 2-0 to the Wolves.
Pinoncely got a save early on as he denied a Wolves attacker in the 2nd minute of play. Adrien Diaz then got a shot off, but could not hit the target. Then, in the 25th minute WOU struck for the lead at 1-0. Eli Donaho forced a save later in the half, but the two teams went to the break with the Wolves holding a 1-0 advantage.
Both teams ratcheted up the offensive pressure in the second half, as the teams started firing shots on goal rapidly. Diaz forced a save and Dodge did the same with a good look on goal. Pinoncely was busy as he made several more saves to keep the score the same at 1-0. Western Oregon broke through in the 76th minute as they made several key passes to set up the goal to make it 2-0. Matthew Beaulieu got off a shot on goal towards the end of the game, but ultimately the hosts came out on top with a final score of 2-0.
The Cougars got off 11 shots with five of those being on goal. Pinoncely made six saves as he put in a strong effort.
Colorado Christian now returns home for a matchup on September 20 at 7 p.m. MST against Regis University.
