Cougars Post Second Straight Sweep at Home vs Mountaineers

LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian hosted an RMAC opponent for the second straight night on Saturday as they took on Western Colorado. Another dominant night led to a sweep of the Mountaineers as CCU tallied their second straight win in conference play.

From the start it was apparent who the better team was as the Cougars quickly jumped ahead on kills from Renee Phillips and Libby Goodman. A six-point run capped by a Connelly Kilgore slam made it 9-1 early. The Mountaineers rallied their way all the way to close the gap to one point at 17-16, but CCU took over again from there. An eight-point run closed out the set by a final score of 25-16 as Kilgore closed things out.

The second set saw more of the same CCU dominance as they quickly gained an 8-3 advantage on an ace from Izzy Jones. The lead eventually grew to 18-9 on a Goodman kill, and Phillips made it set point at 24-13 with a kill. A WCU service error ended the set with a score of 25-14 ac Colorado Christian looked to be very in control of the match.

With a firm grasp of the match in hand, CCU stormed ahead 6-1 on a kill from Lilly Woods. Abby Breeding got in on the offense with a kill to make it 12-8, and later she slammed another home as the hosts built a 22-17 lead. The Cougars scored the final three points of the night, led by Kills from Phillips and Jones to close out the sweep with a 25-18 set three victory.
