LAS VEGAS, NM- CCU closed the regular season on Saturday as they traveled to New Mexico Highlands. In a dominant effort, the Cougars rolled past the Cowgirls in three sets for the sweep. The win earned the Cougars the #6 seed at the upcoming RMAC Tournament.

The Cougars jumped ahead 9-4 early as Lilly Woods put down a pair of kills and Suzanna Conner slammed one home. The lead eventually grew to 19-10 off of an Abby Newell kill, and three straight points to close the set capped by a kill from Renee Phillips gave the visitors the 25-16 victory.

Set two was a dominant one from CCU as they went on a lengthy ten-point run led by three Newell kills and a block by Newell and Woods for a 17-5 lead. Megan McNitt got in on the action with a kill, and a pair of kills from Phillips closed the set 25-13.

Newell continued her hot hitting with consecutive kills, and Janelle DeBoer and McNitt tallied a block to push their team ahead 17-10. The set closed with five straight points from the Cougars as McNitt and Woods put down kills as CCU claimed the sweep with a 25-12 final set victory.
