LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian returned home on Friday looking to keep getting momentum after a big road win on Sunday as they faced off against Barclay College. In a tightly contested game, CCU ran their win streak to two with an 81-74 victory.
CJ Barnes opened the game with a layup, but after that the Cougars struggled to gain momentum and trailed Barclay into the first media timeout 6-7.
Promise Idiaru helped the Cougars with a nice layup and a dunk to tie the Bears at 14 apiece going into the second media timeout. The low scoring game kept its pace although Promise kept his scoring streak alongside freshman
Nathaniel Law to help the Cougars jump out to a 9-point lead. Barclay fought back to bring the deficit to only two points at halftime.
The Cougars jumped back out to a seven-point lead led by sophomores
Tate Odvody and Barnes. However, Barclay didn't let them get too far ahead, once again bringing the deficit down to two points. Once again though, Odvody and Idiaru kept their scoring barrage coming and helped CCU stretch the lead again. Going into the ten-minute mark of the second half Barclay fought their way to a one-point lead. The Cougars fought back into the lead and didn't look back as were able to stretch the lead to nine-points and would ultimately defeat the Bears 81-74.
The Cougars will be back at home looking for their third win in a row on Tuesday November 26 for an out-of-conference match vs. conference opponent Chadron State College at 5 p.m. MST.
