Hot Shooting Cougars Roll Past Bethany College

LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian continued play at home on Thursday evening in a non-conference contest against Bethany College (Kan.). Led by incredible shooting from beyond the arc, the Cougars ran away with a dominant 81-53 victory. 

Hayley Luther got things started with an early jumper, and Elise Grosdidier splashed in a three . Victoria Perez hit a jumper while Elise drained another three-pointer. The shots continued to fall as Nicole Bowlin hit a three to send her team ahead 13-7. Mia Guest hit a late jumper as the hosts took a 20-16 lead to the second quarter. 

Luther drilled a three to push the lead to 10, and moments later Bowlin drained another trey for the 35-19 advantage. Jenna Kendall joined the barrage from three with a swish, and she followed with a jumper the next possession for a five-point burst. Josie Grosdidier finished the half with a layup as CCU took a 42-24 lead to the halftime break. 

Elise came out of the half with two quickfire layups, and Kendall splashed in another three-pointer to grow the lead to 54-34. Dasiya Jones finished off the scoring in the third quarter with a jumper as CCU led 56-34 with one quarter to go. 

Makayla Boatman got the first points of her CCU career with a pair of free throws, and she continued an excellent final frame with a layup shortly after. Boatman did not stop there, draining consecutive three-pointers to help her team grow a 77-50 lead. She converted another layup to close a 15 point fourth quarter as Colorado Christian ran away with a victory 81-53. 

Five Cougars scored in double digits in an impressively balanced attack, led by Elise Grosdidier with 16 points. Boatman followed with 15 points in her first game playing with the Cougars, and 14 from Luther and 11 apiece from Bowlin and Kendall capped the top five scorers. Jones was stellar with 11 rebounds while Perez dished out 8 assists. 

CCU closes their 2024 slate with a home matchup against Angelo State on December 21 with tipoff set for 1 p.m. MST.
