CCU Drop Doubleheader in Oklahoma at Rogers State

CLAREMORE, OK- Colorado Christian continued play at Rogers State in Oklahoma with a doubleheader on Friday. CCU battled in both contests, but ended up dropping game one 4-1 and game two 9-2.

GAME ONE
The Hillcats struck first in the third inning with a pair of runs to take an early lead in the first contest. The Cougars struck back in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Sawyer Shepherd as Caden Walton raced home to bring the gap to one run. The hosts tacked on two more runs in the seventh as they eventually went on to win 4-1.

Jake Gimbel was stellar on the mound, pitching five innings with just two runs allowed. Shepherd continues to be an RBI manufacturer, netting his fourth RBI of the young season.

GAME TWO
The Cougars got on the board first in game two as Boedy Flores notched an RBI single to score Walton. The score remained 1-0 in favor of CCU, but the sixth inning was the difference as the Hillcats struck for five runs. They added three more in the seventh to extend the lead and take full control. Aaron Morgan blasted a solo homer to left center field in the eighth to provide a spark, but in the end Rogers State came out on top 9-2.

Cole Kennedy got the start and went five innings with four strikeouts, while Jonny Tewinkle and Garrett Sinfield saw action on the mound as well.

CCU is back in action February 10 for another doubleheader against the Hilltoppers at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. MST.
