Colorado Christian Down Rangers in Doubleheader Sweep

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars looked to close out a four-game sweep as they took on Regis at home in a doubleheader on Sunday. They did just that, taking down the Rangers 7-1 and 5-2 to send their winning streak to 20 games.

GAME ONE
The two teams dueled to a pair of scoreless innings to start, but Kaila Eastburn broke things open with a three-run homer in the third. A run in the fifth from Regis was not enough as the Cougars responded quickly in the sixth.

A bunt single from Samaria Roope saw Logan Menzies race home for a 4-1 advantage, and Leah Garcia put the game away with a huge three-run bomb as the Cougars used timely hitting to pull away for a 7-1 victory.

Emma Duncan picked up the win in the circle, scattering six hits with just one run allowed and four strikeouts. Eastburn and Garcia led the offense with their three-run home runs.

GAME TWO
The second contest of the day was a more competitive affair, and CCU got on the board with an RBI double from Kenzie Middleton. The two teams battled from there, with the Rangers breaking through for a pair of runs in the fourth on a costly error.

Colorado Christian responded as Cheyenne Stark singled to tie the game in the fourth. Roope notched another RBI on a groundout to send the teams to the fifth with CCU on top 3-2. Eastburn continued her incredible day in the fifth, uncorking a two-run homer to center field for the eventual final score of 5-2.

Not only did Eastburn slug two homers for five RBI in todays' games, she got the complete game victory in the circle with a dominant performance that saw her strikeout 6 Rangers batters with just two runs allowed. The offense used effective baserunning to score runs when needed in the hard fought victory.

Colorado Christian will now hit the road for a four-game series at Black Hills State April 20-21 with first pitch Saturday set for 12 p.m. MST.
