LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their scholar athletes of the year on Monday, and after a tremendous junior year, Matthew Storer has earned the prestigious conference honor. 

Storer continued to etch his name into the history books at Colorado Christian all while earning a 3.71 GPA in Business Administration. A native of Colorado Springs, Matt showed off his prowess as one of the best runners in the nation in the cross country season in the fall. After claiming fourth at Regionals, Storer headed into the National Championships with a podium spot in mind. He ran an incredible race, picking off several opponents in the final stages of the race in hot conditions in Missouri to claim third in the nation and help his team take eighth overall. 

The Indoor Track & Field season saw more of the same from Storer as he qualified for Nationals in both the 3k and 5k. With a run of 8:05.30, Matt took eighth place in the 3000m, and he added a second All-American nod with a fifth place run of 13:57.00 in the 5000m to bring his season total to three All-American honors. 

The momentum continued into the outdoor track season as Storer blazed his way to a Nationals spot in the 5k and 10k. He began with the 10k, posting a personal best time of 29:38.27 to claim fifth. He closed the season with a 14th place run in the 5k as he ended the year with a total of 5 All-American nods, bringing his total at CCU to nine. 

An honor roll and First Team All Academic recipient from the RMAC the past two years, Storer has displayed excellence in the classroom and in all competitions on the cross country course and track. 

Storer will be honored at the RMAC Hall of Fame Banquet on July 11 at the Colorado Springs Marriott. The event begins at 6 p.m. MST and tickets can be purchased here.
