ALAMOSA, CO- The Cougars hit the road for a matchup at Adams State in their final game before RMAC play begins. After a first half goal gave the visitors a lead, the hosts equalized late in the second half in what would end in a 1-1 draw.
The pressure was immediate from CCU as
Tiago Gomes missed just high and
Adrian Diez forced a save on a shot to the bottom right corner. In the 15th minute, the Cougars earned a corner kick, and
Lucca Casci found
Gabe Roloff who headed it from the far post to a waiting
Dylan Hall at the near post who slotted it home with his head on a beautiful combination from CCU. With the 1-0 lead in hand,
Shane Donnelly forced a save with a shot on goal, and keeper
Jailon Gillespie made three strong saves to keep his team up a goal headed to the break.
Mac Weaver and Hall fired shots on goal that were saved early in the second half, and Gomes narrowly missed high again moments later. The Grizzlies continued to press, and in the 81st minute, they broke through for the equalizing goal. Roloff and Gomes notched shots late in the game, but in the end the two teams ended with a draw 1-1.
The Cougars will host #18 Fort Lewis as they open up conference play at Trailblazer Stadium on October 4 at 12 p.m. MST.
