DENVER, CO- Colorado Christian traveled to nearby MSU Denver on Friday night for an RMAC matchup against the #12 ranked Roadrunners. The hosts proved too much on this night as CCU fell in straight sets inside the Auraria Event Center. 

Sierra Crist got the scoring started with a kill, but a long run midway through the set from the Roadrunners sent them ahead by 10, a deficit that was too much to overcome in a 25-11 setback. 

Connelly Kilgore and Suzanna Conner started set two off hot with kills to tie the match at 6-6, and a Janelle Deboer kill later made it 9-8 CCU. MSUD began to chip away, eventually taking a 20-15 lead and they closed the set out 25-18. 

Renee Phillips was dominant to start the third set as she notched a kill, block and ace to push her team ahead 5-1. The teams eventually stood level at 12-12, but another run midway through the set from the hosts put them firmly in control up 19-13. In the end, CCU could not come back as they fell in straight sets 25-16. 

Phillips led the offense with seven kills, followed by Kilgore and Conner with six and five kills respectively. Kate Ringer led her team with 11 assists, and her and Crist led the defense with seven digs apiece. 

The Cougars continue play at UCCS on October 25 with first serve set for 2 p.m. MDT.
