LAKEWOOD, CO- The Cougars continued play at home on Saturday afternoon as they took on Kansas Christian College. CCU dominated from start to finish, cracking the century mark for a 104-68 victory as six players scored in double digits.
Porter Bazil started strong with the first four points of the game, and
Pierce Bazil got a pair of layups to go early as well.
Joshua Reid connected from beyond the arc, and
Lincoln Cantrall joined him as he splashed home a three-pointer for the 23-15 lead.
Jimmy House knocked down a three moments later, while Cantrall drilled another trey as CCU continued to lead.
Andrew Reichart got a layup to go, and Cantrall nailed his three-pointer to put CCU ahead 38-27.
Zachary Reed swished home another three as the Cougars shot the lights out from deep in the first half. Reichart closed the half with a free throw as CCU took a commanding 55-38 lead to the halftime break. CCU went 8-12 from beyond the arc in the half.
An offensive board and layup by Garett Poelman started the second half, and Porter knocked down another three-pointer for a 62-44 lead. A three-point play from Pierce stretched the lead, and Cantrall nailed yet another three. Reichart drained a three moments later as the lead grew to 75-48.
Cantrall connected on his fifth three-pointer of the game to send his team ahead 85-58, and
Ezra Guest hit another three as the Cougars continued to pour it on from downtown. Guest had the honors of sending his team to 100 points with another three as CCU led 100-66. Reid closed the scoring for his team with a layup as Colorado Christian took the dominant win by a final score of 104-68.
Cantrall went 5-8 from deep to lead his team with 17 points, and Reichart followed with 16 points. Porter and Pierce had 14 points apiece, while Reid had 13 points. Reed chipped in 11 points, and Reichart had a double-double with 13 boards. Guest dished out a team high seven assists and went 2-2 from three. The 16 three-pointers the Cougars hit tied for third place all-time in single game threes made in program history.
Now sitting at 2-2 on the season, the Cougars close their homestand on November 26 as they host Western New Mexico with tipoff slated for 5 p.m. MST.
