DENVER, CO- Colorado Christian closed their season on Wednesday with a matchup against crosstown rivals MSU Denver at Assembly Athletic Complex. After a scoreless first half, a goal off a corner in the 85th minute gave the Cougars a 1-0 victory as they closed their campaign in excellent fashion.
The game started fast as
Issy Taussig got an early save and
Ava Dinverno had an early shot on goal. The defenses set in from there as there were only two more shots the rest of the half as the score stood tied at 0-0 at the break.
Taussig stood tall with a save early in the second period, and
Sophia Tagge had a go at goal that just missed. Sadie Roberston missed high as the offensive pressure intensified, and
Faith Gaudy narrowly missed moments later. The Cougars earned a corner in the 84th, and
Ava Dinverno put in a beautiful ball that
Alexis Byrd clipped to
Kira Merrell who headed the ball into the back of the net for the tiebreaking goal. The defense held the Roadrunners out of goal for the final five minutes as they knocked the Roadrunners out of the RMAC Tournament with the 1-0 victory.
The Cougars closed the 2025 season with an overall record of 3-8-6 and 2-5-5 in RMAC play. CCU finished ninth in the conference standings.
