SPEARFISH, SD- Colorado Christian closed their trip to South Dakota on Saturday with a matchup at #19 Black Hills State. Despite a tough fight, the Yellowjackets came out on top 96-76 in the end.
Pierce Bazil got the offense going with an early three-pointer, and
Joshua Reid knocked down a three as BHSU led 21-11.
Porter Bazil got a layup to go and
Lincoln Cantrall hit a three to pull his team within seven.
Andrew Reichart kept his team close with a layup, and
Zachary Reed made a layup as the Cougars kept things within single digits. A strong close to the half from the Yellowjackets sent them to the break leading 49-28.
Reid started the second half with a three, while Pierce hit a layup. Reid connected again from deep, and another Pierce layup had CCU rolling offensively.
Schafer Reichart continued the hot start to the half with a three, and an
Ezra Guest layup kept the momentum going.
Jimmy House connected from beyond the arc, and Porter later hit a three as the lead shrunk to 10 for BHSU. The Cougars battled hard to the very end but could not cut into the deficit more as the Yellowjackets eventually took a 96-76 victory.
Pierce led the offense with 23 points, while Porter poured in 18. Reid continued his strong form with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
CCU now preps for a non-conference road matchup at New Mexico Highlands on December 20 with tipoff slated for 3 p.m. MST.
