Pair of 9-2 Victories Over Skyhawks Send CCU to 12-0 in RMAC Play

DURANGO, CO- Colorado Christian closed their series at Fort Lewis with a Saturday doubleheader at Aspen Field. It was a clinical day from the Cougars as they claimed a pair of 9-2 victories in both contests to improve to a perfect 12-0 in conference play.

GAME ONE
Leah Garcia got the scoring started right away with an RBI double to right center for a 1-0 lead. The Skyhawks answered by taking the lead on a two-run double of their own for the 2-1 lead. Elyse McMullin quickly tied things up after she gave up the lead very briefly from the circle as she singled in a run to make it 2-2.

A run scored for CCU in the third on an error, while Danea Lopez notched an RBI on a sac fly in the 5th. The runs continued to cross the plate as Peyton Marvel singled another run for a 5-2 lead. The seventh saw four runs of insurance score, starting with another RBI single from Marvel. Mia Stankiewicz tallied an RBI fielder's choice, and Lauren Garcia picked up an RBI with a single. McMullin closed the scoring with one last single to salt away a 9-2 victory.

McMullin notched the win in the circle with a complete game effort on 5 strikeouts. Marvel notched 3 RBI to lead her team followed by McMullin with two.

GAME TWO
Marvel kept her hot hitting going in game two, immediately ripping a two-RBI double in the first inning. McMullin plated two more with a single to stretch the lead to 4-0.
