GRAND JUNCTION, CO- The Cougars opened their series at Colorado Mesa with a night game at The Diamond on Friday evening. The Mavericks proved to be too much on this night as they took an early lead and never looked back for an 18-2 victory in seven innings.
CMU tacked on three runs in the first, and they scored five more in the second to take an 8-0 lead. A run in the fourth and eight runs in the fifth put things out of reach with a 17-0 lead.
William Brassil put his team on the board as he hammered his sixth home run of the year in the sixth, a two-run blast to right center. Mesa tacked on one more run in the sixth as the game ended with a final score of 18-2.
The Cougars will continue their series at Colorado Mesa with a doubleheader March 22 at 1 and 4 p.m. MST.
