GOODYEAR, AZ- The Cougars continued the spring in Arizona at the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout hosted by Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian at the Golf Club of Estrella. During the course of the one day, 36-hole tournament, CCU fired two very low rounds to finish -35 and dominate the field for their seventh tournament victory of the year.
Adam Duncan claimed the individual title, going -12 to claim the win.
ROUND ONE
Duncan started hot in round one, firing a 65 as he carded seven birdies and an eagle to jump into the lead.
Sangha Park was stellar as well, shooting a 67 with eight birdies.
Xavier Bighaus and
Bradley Mulder both shot 68s, with Bighaus netting five birdies and Mulder sinking six birdies.
Sungyeop Cho closed with a 72 to close out the starting five.
Peyton Jones,
Ben Fowler and
Camron Reddell all competed as individuals, and Jones came out hot with a 68 on six birdies. Fowler fired a 77, while Reddell closed with a 78.
ROUND TWO
Duncan was excellent to close yet again, shooting a 67 with a bogey free round with five birdies to finish the tournament -12 and claim the individual title. Park finished with a 69 while sinking four birdies as he claimed fifth overall. Cho closed strong as he shot a round-low score of 66 for his team with seven birdies as he claimed seventh. Bighaus shot a 71 to finish in 10th and Mulder fired a 72 to claim 13th.
Jones finished strong, shooting a 70 to tie for seventh with his teammate Cho. Fowler finished with an even par 72, claiming 40th. Reddell shot a 75 to finish in 57th.
As a team, the Cougars shot a total of 541 (268, 273) to go 35 strokes under par and claim the victory.
The team will stay in Arizona and compete in the Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate March 23-25 with rounds 1-2 at Verrado Golf Club and round 3 back at Golf Club of Estrella.
