DENVER, CO- Colorado Christian continued their series against MSU Denver with a doubleheader Saturday. The Roadrunners offense was too much to handle on this day as they took victories by scores of 36-7 and 15-5.
GAME ONE
The first inning was a big one for CCU as
Lukas Hinze scored the first run on a passed ball.
William Brassil then stepped into the box and hammered a two-run homer to left center for the quick 3-0 lead.
Ethan Kang delivered an RBI single, and
Nathan Mensen raced home on an error for the 5-0 advantage.
It would be all MSU Denver from there as they struck for nine runs in the second and streaked their way to a 36-5 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. Mensen and Kang notched RBIs in that inning, but CCU fell 36-7.
GAME TWO
The Roadrunners jumped ahead 2-0 in the first of game two, but
Gregory Rangel provided a response with a solo homer in the second. A five-run third put MSUD in control, but
Nathan Owens scored on a balk in the third, and
Mason Hagel-Pitt tallied an RBI groundout to make it 7-3.
MSU Denver took command, scoring more runs each inning to build a 11-3 lead.
Gavin Acosta and Hagel-Pitt connected on solo homers in the fifth, but it would not be enough in the eventual 15-5 defeat.
CCU close their series with the Roadrunners on April 13 with first pitch set for 12 p.m. MST.
