Cougars Go 2-0 Against CSU Pueblo in Friday's Doubleheader

Two Dominant Performances from CCU

LAKEWOOD, CO – Colorado Christian opened their series against Colorado State-Pueblo with a Friday doubleheader at All Star Park. The Cougars had two strong performances to improve
their record to 38-14.

GAME ONE
The Colorado Christian Cougars began the day off strong with a dominant performance against the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves. The Cougs took a 1-0 lead early in the first off of a single from Danae Lopez and continued to score in the second inning with a double from Elyse McMullin and another RBI from Rachel Williams to give CCU a 5-0 lead. A single from Camryn Quilling and a hit from Kat Hanson put the Cougs up 8-0 at the end of the fourth. CSUP answered with three runs to keep the game going, but CCU was quick to respond. Quilling doubled and Mia Stankiewicz singled to put the Cougs up 10-3. Cheyenne Stark hit a walk-off home run over the wall to give the Cougs a 13-3 win.

McMullin and Stark led the team with three RBI apiece. Emma Duncan had four strikeouts on the way to tallying win number seventeen on the season.

GAME TWO
CCU continued to dominate in the second matchup, going up 3-0 early off of singles from both Sarah Dollerschell and McMullin. The Cougs increased their lead in the fourth after a single from Peyton Marvel. McMullin hit a double to increase CCU's lead to 5-0. CSUP was unable to respond and ended up getting shutout in a strong performance by the Cougs.

McMullin led the team with two RBI and Marvel and Dollerschell had one apiece. McMullin had one strikeout and won her thirteenth game of the season on the mound.

The Cougars look to finish the regular season strong with another double header against Colorado State University Pueblo on April 26 at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. MST.
