Four Cougars Garner All-Conference Honors After Stellar Seasons

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) released their All-Conference honors on Wednesday, and four Cougars have earned their place on the list following excellent seasons.

Gavin Acosta was named Second Team All-Conference for his excellent work at shortstop and at the plate. The senior was strong in the six, recording 61 putouts and 97 assists with a fielding percentage of .952. At the plate, Gavin hit for an average of .318 with an OPS of .946. In his final year with the Cougars, Acosta tallied 26 RBI on nine homers and 11 doubles as part of a 54 hit season. Starting in 44 games, Gavin made his impact felt throughout the season as a reliable and steady presence who could be counted on from the leadoff position.

Mason Hagel-Pitt garnered Second Team All-Conference honors after a stellar season at second base. With 64 putouts and 80 assists, Hagel-Pitt had a fielding percentage of .980 as he held down his position well. His batting numbers led the team in many categories including his average of .373, his 60 hits and 41 runs scored and his pair of triples. Mason was a strong hitter in the heart of the lineup and blasted eight homers and ripped 13 doubles for his team.

William Brassil received a Second Team All-Conference nod for his work at designated hitter as the graduate student brought some big time power at the plate throughout the season. Brassil compiled a great line with an average of .352 and an OPS of 1.090. Slugging for .673 in 162 at-bats, Will tied the team high with 13 homers as he brought in 34 runs on 57 hits. Playing in all but one game this season, Brassil could always be counted on to provide the big hit, walking off Mines in their final home stand and obliterating balls out of the yard on a routine basis.

Lukas Hinze earned a spot on the Gold Glove Team for his excellent work in center field. Playing a position that sees a lot of fly balls and liners into his area, Hinze made play after play and did not commit a single error to post a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000. The junior made 131 catches with 129 putouts and two assists as part of an excellent year in the outfield. Throughout the season, Hinze routinely robbed hitters of extra base hits as he used his speed to make diving catches and over-the-shoulder plays to end innings and pick up huge outs for the Cougars.
