Portland, OR – Graduate student
Tyler Scholl ran in one final last chance meet this weekend, racing in the storied Portland Twilight. Scholl walked home with a raw PR, just on the outside of the nationals list.
Scholl towed the line with 11 different competitors in the 3000 meter steeplechase, looking to close out the final season with a bang. Opening up hot off the line, Scholl came through the first 300 in 38 seconds to fight for good position to start the race. Falling into third, Scholl would race behind the two leaders, another racing sitting right off of Scholl's shoulder. Finding a rhythm, Scholl ticked off lap after lap, strongly holding in third place. A fairly unmoving race, a final kick brought Scholl through the line in 9:17.66, strong enough for a third place finish.
Although a raw PR for Scholl, the mark of 9:17 leaves the graduate student on the outside looking in for the national steeplechase. Closing an extremely strong track season, Scholl looks to the fall to lead his team to another nationally relevant year in Cross Country.
