Matt Storer Claims RMAC Academic Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year, Klay Grant & Kale Edmonds Named to First Team

LAKEWOOD, CO- The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced their academic honors for Outdoor Track & Field on Monday, and after another incredible season, Matthew Storer has earned a sweep of the indoor & outdoor Academic Player of the Year honors. Joining Storer on the First Team for their stellar efforts on the track and in the classroom  are Klay Grant and Kale Edmonds

Storer earned his second straight Academic Player of the Year honor as he claimed the award during the indoor season as well. A three-time member on the academic first team, the graduate student earned a strong 3.71 GPA in Business Administration while starring as an All-American for his team. Matt had an excellent close to his final season running at CCU as he once again made a trip to the NCAA National Championships in the 10k. With a raw PR of 29.33.14 ran at the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational, Storer went and showed he is one of the best runners in the nation at Nationals, securing a 10th place finish and etching his name into Track & Field history as he closed with his 12th All American. 
 
Klay Grant


Grant earned a spot on the first team and his fourth academic award of his track career at CCU. Already a three-time first team member in indoor track and a summit award winner in Cross Country, Klay receives another academic honor after earning a 3.99 GPA in English. Grant earned a raw PR in the mile of 4:20.75 at the Washburn Open, and he closed with an appearance in both the 1500m and 5k at the RMAC Championships where he took 15th and 17th place respectively. 
 
Kale Edmonds


Edmonds claimed a spot on the first team as he showed great balance between his education and running and excelled in his studies. With a 3.99 GPA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in History, Edmonds student taught at Evergreen High School during the year as he gained important experience in the classroom teaching. Appearing at three different meets throughout the outdoor season, Edmonds closed in the 800m at the Kit Mayer Classic at Mines. Kale also received the Leadership Award at his Graduation from CCU, an annual twenty-five thousand dollar prize given to the graduate who best demonstrates exceptional Christ-centered leadership, character and service at the University.
