Alamosa, CO – The Cougars traveled to Alamosa this Sunday afternoon, falling to the Grizzlies 1-0 on the road. Despite being on the front foot most of the game, a late goal from Adams State would hand the Cougars their second conference loss.
Both sides would play to a scoreless first half, no one able to find the back of the net. The Cougars would create the first opportunity, a trend throughout the day, with Mingo taking the opening shot within the first 7 minutes. CCU would record eight shots in the opening 45 minutes, including a pair of shots on goal from
Olivia Martin and
Noelle Mingo.
Kenzie Kunitz would keep the Grizzlies off the scoreboard in the opening half, making one save as the Cougars headed into halftime tied at 0-0.
The Cougars would continue to push for the game opener in the second half, Martin forcing a save early in the half while
Faith Gaudy would record another two shots in the half. The breakthrough would come in the 73
rd minutes from the host side, Norden netting a goal for the Grizzlies to lift Adams State 1-0 over the Cougars.
The Cougars would respond with several opportunities of their own late in the match.
Kayla Truong would put four shots toward the goal in the second half, including a pair in the final 15 minutes. Despite strong efforts to find the equalizer late and out shooting the Grizzlies 16-10, CCU would be kept scoreless throughout the entire match.
