Beyond the Jersey
  • INSPIRATIONAL PERSON OR QUOTE & WHY | “I don’t think I have a quote, but I really admire Inky Johnson and his story- it’s one of embracing adversity and opposition in life as a means to practice gratitude, grit, and discipline. He is humble, resilient, and passionate!”
  • FAVORITE CCU MOMENT & WHY | Some of Starnes favorite moments at CCU are game nights with her friends! Starnes says, “They make life more fun!”
  • OUTSIDE OF SPORTS | “I love to be outside doing something active with friends and family!! I love running, hiking, biking, pickle ball, game nights, reading, and listening to music!”
  • WHY DID YOU CHOOSE CCU | “I wanted to be a part of a Christian community that was set apart for Christ and genuinely striving to glorify God and pursue holiness in the classroom, on the field, etc. The soccer program was definitely a draw for this reason as well. I loved how the staff emphasized soccer as a spiritual training ground for life! Also, the coaches were so fun so that was definitely a perk!”
  • FAMILY TIES | “My dad works in law enforcement and my mom is a high school math teacher. My brother played soccer for a little bit in college and is now pursuing a career in medicine with hopes of becoming an anesthesiologist.”
  • POST COLLEGE DREAMS | “I would love to be a nurse in pediatric oncology. I can’t begin to comprehend the pain of watching your child battle cancer. I know it’s taxing on the kid as well as the family. I just want to be able to partner with my patient and their family amidst the suffering and remind them of the fullness of joy and hope we find in the Gospel!”
