Troy Hammel

The Colorado Christian men’s basketball team welcomed Troy Hammel to the program as its new assistant coach on July 1, 2020.

Previously Hammel served as a graduate assistant coach at NCAA Division I UC Riverside. While with the Highlanders Hammel’s duties included player development, statistical organization, video breakdown and he also co-directed the team’s summer camp. Furthermore, he worked alongside Colorado Christian head coach Liam Simmons while at the southern California school.

As a player he was a standout at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. A three-year starter for the Warriors, he scored 1,312 points which ranked 26th on the school’s all-time career scoring leaders. At the time of his graduation he was Merrimack’s career leaders in free throw percentage (88.3%) and three-point field goal percentage (43.2%). Beginning with his sophomore campaign, he started each of the last 79 games he played.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration while earning Dean List’s and Cum Laude academic honors. Hammel recently completed his Master’s in Education from UC Riverside. He is a native of Valencia, Calif.
