In 2003, former CCU Men’s and Women’s Soccer Head Coach Gary Evans resigned as the most successful coach in CCU Soccer history. in May of 2011, Evans resumed the Men’s Soccer position, returning to Colorado Christian after eight years away.
Coach Evans initially joined the Cougar Athletics program in 1996, taking over the helm of the men’s squad just one year before assuming the same role on the women’s team. While at CCU, Evans coached numerous All-Conference and All-Region players, including Colorado Christian Hall of Fame members Chris McClellan and Erin Brunelle.
An accomplished professional player and coach, Evans began his career as a player with the Liverpool Football Club. After leaving Liverpool, he spent time playing in the North American Soccer League (Edmonton), the American Soccer League (California Sunshine), and in the Major Indoor Soccer League (Cleveland).
At the close of his professional playing career, Evans spent 15 years in business in Southern California and Oregon.
From 2003 to 2005, Evans served as the Director of Coaching at the Storm Soccer Club in Denver. In 2006, he took over the same position with the Pride Soccer Club in Colorado Springs. In 2010, Coach Evans assisted with the Air Force Falcon Women’s Soccer program. He brings over a decade of youth coaching and eight years of college coaching experience to Colorado Christian.
Evans earned his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) A License in 1994. He earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Director of Coaching Diploma and United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National Youth License in 2008.
Gary and his wife of over 30 years, Christine, have five children and a daughter-in-law and reside in Highlands Ranch. Two of his children (Gary and Alyssa) played soccer at CCU.
