After playing her first four years of collegiate soccer at UCCS, Sims decided to use her remaining eligibility from Covid-19 to play her last season with the Cougars in 2023. Sims was able to play alongside her sister, Jessie Sims, and cap off an amazing collegiate soccer career that included four All-RMAC nominations, and three appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament while at UCCS. She totaled six career goals and six assists while tallying almost over 6,500 minutes as a midfielder.

She was named as the CCU graduate assistant for the 2024 season, paired alongside first year head coach Caleb Cole. Prior to the 2025 season, Sims was named the full time Assistant Coach for women's soccer. The team’s familiarity with Sims' career and play created a culture and identity that resonated among the squad. Her five years of playing experience within the RMAC proved to be beneficial when it came to tactics and in-game adjustments due to her acquaintance with teams in conference assisting Coach Cole. Thus, leading to the success of the Cougars in conference play, helping the Cougars reach the RMAC Championships' for the first time since 2018.

Sims graduated with a bachelor’s in science in Business Administration, emphasizing in finance and minoring in accounting at UCCS. She recently completed her MBA in May of 2025 emphasizing in project management while at CCU.
