INSPIRATIONAL PERSON OR QUOTE & WHY |
I would say my headmaster/Sophomore year humanities teacher, Mr. Browne. Mr. Browne is one of the most kind and genuine person I have ever known. He taught me all about ancient history and the most important thing, he taught me through actions what it means to be a good Christian. Mr. Browne constantly showed what it meant to love people with the knowledge that they are an eternal soul. He inspired me to become a teacher and that is what I aspire to become.
FAVORITE MOMENT & WHY |
My favorite moment is from my last high school soccer game. For four years I had played with the same girls, from tryouts to conditioning, to loses and wins. My team has been a constant. Our last game we were in districts playing against our rival. A few days before we had lost, bad to that same team. We had no expectation of even coming close to winning the game. Girls were hurt, we already had played three other games that week and we knew we were tired. Even though we were tired we still had fun. We laughed, wished each other good luck and told each other at the end of the day we were more than soccer players. Win or lose we were all happy to have played the last four years together. By the end of 90 minutes the Caldwell Cougars were tied with our longtime rivals. A feat that we thought impossible. With the first overtime starting we told ourselves that we were proud of what we had accomplished thus far and that whatever happens as long as we put everything on that field, we would feel proud of ourselves. In two minutes left of overtime I had been man marking a player the entirety of the game and the ball was played to a player with no defender near and I made the decision to pressure the ball. I made a play and attempted a slide tackle in the box. I fouled and I burst into tears. I knew that I had just cost my team the game. Our rivals scored. Our season was over, and I cried some more. Throughout those few minutes when the PK was being set up, I'll never forget that my teammates instead of yelling at me for my mistake that lost us the game they comforted me. Telling me that it wasn't my fault that I had played hard the entire game, and they were proud of me. While the other team was celebrating their hard-fought game my team gathered together for a hug. We had done something that we thought impossible and even though I was the reason for that goal my team bounded together and took responsibility for my mistake. I knew from that moment that the last four years had been worth it. That every time I went to practice, every fitness test was worth it because I had built amazing relationships with my teammates and coaches. The bus ride back to the school was one of the best times ever. As a team we sang along to songs, cried, and laughed. At the end of the day, we were more than soccer players.
