Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Back and Forth Battle Ends in CCU Loss

Colorado Christian women's volleyball traveled to Alamosa, CO this weekend to compete against Adams State University, and get another win under their belt. The start of the night looked promising, but ended in a heartbreaking loss to the Grizzlies 3-2.

The Lady Cougars' offense was lethal in the first game with a combined hitting percentage of .240, compared to ASU's combined hitting percentage of -.032. This was fatal for the Grizzles, and ended in a 13-25 defeat. This offensive let down from Adams did not last long. They came back in set two with a .243 at the net, and competitive edge that brought them closer to the win, but just short 25-23. At this point in the match, blue and gold's offense was slowly deflating.

The next two sets were tough for Colo. Christian as they battled to take the victory in both of the games, but lost 23-25 identically. Set five consisted of chasing each other, point after point. The Grizzlies would be up two points, and then within seconds the Cougars' are even with them. There was a huge effort from CCU libero Joelle LeFevre, who had the match high of 20 digs. Christian was not able to get their front line scoring, and lost 18-20 in the end.

CCU's Kaylee Pierce shined throughout the night with 15 kills, one error, and 36 attempts. Hope Baldrica executed her role with nine kills, no errors, and 20 attempts. ASU had 65 kills and 76 digs on the night. CCU was 55 kills and 64 digs

"We really battled hard tonight as a team. We got up and had control of the match several times but just let it get away from us at key moments. We will respond to this and bounce back even stronger this season because of it." –Coach Andria Harshman

The Lady Cougars will be in Durango, CO competing against Fort Lewis College on Oct. 3rd. Game time is set for 5 PM MST.
