After a tough loss against Adams State University, the Lady Cougars' were on the prowl to win their match against Fort Lewis College. It was another five set, nail biting match that ended in the Cougars favor.
CCU started out slow, losing 25-14 in the first set. They aggressively jumped back into the match, and took victories in the second and third sets with scores of 27-25 and 25-17. The third set was an offensive win for blue and gold hitting a total percentage of .324 at the net. The Skyhawks pulled off game four, winning 25-23. The final set was consistently led by Colo. Christian and ended in the win 15-13.
It looked like both teams were struggling at the net all night long, but CCU was able to beat out FLC in the back row with 84 digs to 66 digs.
Connie Olson carried the team with 17 ups on defense and
Mollie Bailey in the front row with 15 kills carried the offense.
Hope Baldrica ended the night hitting .320 with 12 kills.
"The entire team was able to contribute to tonight's success," stated Coach
Andria Harshman. "We struggled early on and made some key personnel switches, which helped us pull off the win. Fort Lewis gave us a great run, and it wasn't an easy win. So proud of our team's determination to get better each point throughout the match."
Colorado Christian Volleyball will return to their home court next weekend in Lakewood, CO on October 9th to play UC-Colorado Springs. Game starts at 5 PM MST
