It was senior day at Trailblazer Stadium on Sunday afternoon as CCU took on Western State on a beautiful fall day in Lakewood, CO. Neither team was able to break past the defensive barriers, as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Â
Both squads had trouble with their offense but each defense stood tall on the field. Junior goalkeeper
Claire LaValley had a spectacular save early in the second half on a breakaway attempt by Western which easily could have been the difference in the game. LaValley played the full 110 minutes and had four saves on the day.

Seniors
Cora Aversano and
Dakota Thompson took the field for their last home games as Cougars, and both were honored before the game by their teammates and all that were in attendance.
Â
Aversano played four seasons for Colorado Christian from 2012-2015 where she played both midfield and forward. Sunday marked her 42
nd game played for the team and she has played over 3500 minutes. She fired 60 shots towards goal, while five of them found the back of the net and also had four assists.
Â
Thompson played her junior and senior years with the Cougars and was a strong defender throughout both seasons. Today was the 27
th game that she played with the team and during that time she has seen over 2200 minutes of actions.
Â
Both players were integral members of the team and also were outstanding leaders to the younger players on the team. They demonstrated integrity on and off the field and were great role models for all around them.
Â
The lady Cougars have one game remaining this year as they will take on Colorado School of Mines next Sunday in Golden, CO. Game time is scheduled for 12PM MST.
