Colorado Christian women's soccer traveled to Golden to take on Colorado School of Mines on Sunday afternoon for their final game of the year. CCU was defeated by Mines 1-0 in a strong defensive battle. This game marks the end of the 2015 season for the Christian squad.
Â
Both defenses came to play on the day, as they each held the opponents offense in check throughout the first half. With the game still tied at 0-0 in the second half, Mines went on the attack and drove the ball deep in the Cougar zone. Driving into the box, a Mines attacker was taken down from behind which resulted in a penalty kick. They took advantage of the mistake and scored on the penalty kick which was the difference in the game.
Â
With the loss, the Cougars record drops to 0-15-3 for the year. Despite the poor record, the Colorado Christian team showed improvement throughout the year. Coach
Tammy McPherson has a strong foundation that she can build upon moving forward to 2016 and beyond.
