CCU Volleyball took on the Colorado College Tigers on Tuesday evening, who are 30-2 overall and undefeated in the SCAC. The Tigers will continue to be undefeated as they pulled off a five set win against your Cougars who did not go down without a fight. The scores were rough in the beginning for Christian with 25-16 losses in both set one and set two. Set three and four were wins of 25-13, and 25-16. The fifth set was a battle in the beginning until CC ran away with it and won the match 15-9.
Even though the Cougars were down two games, they came out of the locker room after the second set a different team. The third set was dominated by blue and gold's defense with 25 digs, and .188 hitting percentage. Senior
Kaylee Pierce got hot in this set and had five kills and no errors. Pierce hit a .238 on the night with nine kills. Outside hitter
Connie Olson led the team in points with 11 kills, and Colorado native
Sophia Proano had nine kills from the middle. CCU junior
Mollie Bailey was also a top scorer with 10 kills.
The Cougs continued to run their lethal offense in the fourth set with a kill match high of 13 and total hitting percentage of .312. The Tigers weren't able to stop them from scoring points, especially with
Joelle LeFevre in the back row who had 20 digs on the night. LeFevre wasn't going to let anything touch that floor. Abby Bartalo contributed to CCU's 83 total digs of the night with 11 of her own, and SR setter
Jordan Carswell had 12.
The fifth set seemed to get away from Colo. Christian quickly as they weren't able to keep up with Colorado College. The Tigers had 10 kills to CCU's four.
Colorado Christian University Volleyball will be playing at home in Lakewood, CO on OCT. 30
th and 31
st against NMHU and WNMU. Game times are set for 6 PM.
