On Friday Oct. 30
th CCU Volleyball played against New Mexico Highlands University and absolutely dominated on offense. The first set was a close loss at 28-26, but the next three sets were all CCU victories of 26-24, 25-16, and 25-21.
Â
The Cougars looked good in the first set, but had trouble against the strong Cowgirl's block. Even though CCU was able to get more digs from Highlands, they also made more errors at the net. This didn't last long as the second set started, the Cougar squad played really clean volleyball.
Â
This match was a huge team win with every player firing on all cylinders. Outside hitter
Mollie Bailey took the lead in kills with 16 on the night, hitting a .200. Junior middle blocker
Sophia Proano had a perfect game with no errors at the net, and 14 kills, hitting a .609. The Cougar's left handed hitter right side,
Sophia Riviere had a break out game with ten kills and a total hitting percentage of .529. Christian was really able to show off some muscle tonight in the front row thanks to setters
Jordan Carswell and
Kylee Wurster.
Â
Joelle LeFevre, the sophomore libero, swept the floor for blue and gold with 23 digs, and outside hitter
Connie Olson had 19. Setter
Jordan Carswell was able to save 12 balls from dropping as well.
Â
After the four sets, Colo. Christian had 64 kills compared to N.M. Highland's 52 kills. CCU played smart and aggressive volleyball which helped them hit a total of .270%.
