Colorado Christian battled CSU-Pueblo on Sunday and came away with a 0-0 tie. The defense was on full display for both teams and each goalie was able to make pivotal saves which earned each of their respective teams the draw. Â
Â
The first half was an offensive struggle for both teams as they each failed to sustain any momentum. The best scoring chance came early in the first half when senior
Cora Aversano took a shot from 30 yards out on the left side of the field. The shot was heading for the back of the net, but CSUP goalkeeper Alison Darr was able to get a finger on it and deflect it just enough to glance off the cross bar and back into the field of play. Heading into halftime the game remained knotted at 0-0
Â
The defensive battle continued in the second half as each goalie came up with some big saves to keep the game scoreless. 90 minutes was not enough to decide the outcome, so the game headed into overtime. Neither team was able to score in either overtime period, so they both settle for the tie.
Â
With the tie, CCU is now 0-8-2 and 0-5-1 in the RMAC. Their next game is Wednesday as they take on Colorado School of Mines at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, CO with a scheduled start time of 6PM.
