Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

CCU Volleyball Downed by Metro State

CCU Volleyball traveled a short distance to Metro State University of Denver on Wednesday night and came up short making their record 8-9 in conference. Metro took the win in three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-19.

It was a quick three sets, but the Cougars didn't hold anything back making some amazing plays throughout the match. The first set was a struggle to get anything going for CCU, but a spark ignited in the second set and the Lady Cougars were finally making plays happen. Despite Colo. Christian's efforts, MSU had some incredible defense on the night out-digging Christian 49-38, and the Cougs could not pass a ball consistently point after point which made it hard to run an efficient offense. The third set was close up until ten points, where the Roadrunners ran with it.

CCU outside hitter Mollie Bailey led blue and gold with 10 kills, followed by Angela Jurek with six kills and a hitting percentage of .308 on the night. Marissa Lumpkin made eight digs in the back row for CCU, and Hope Baldrica had five blocks at the net.

Metro State had almost double the amount of kills that CCU had hitting 45 compared to 28. They took eight points from Christian on the serving line, but the Cougs had seven blocks compared to Metro's four.

CCU Volleyball will be playing their last home game of the season at the CCU Event Center on Saturday November 14th at 2 PM.
