CCU Men's Basketball had their first home game on Friday night against Dallas Baptist University. These two teams have been distant rivals for some time now, and seem to go back and forth with the win. CCU defeated DBU in last year's NCCAA National Championship, but in this game the score was in the Patriots favor 99-81. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

The Cougars started off strong in the first half shooting 57% compared to Dallas Baptist's 44%. The turnovers are what really got the Cougs off track. They had 15 in the first and 25 total throughout the game. The poor offensive play spilled over into their defensive play as well. The Cougars were strong on the interior outrebounding DBU 41-33. They defended the paint well, but gave up too much beyond the arc to keep the game close. The Patriots drained 20 threes on the game and shot 51% from three-point range.

Dallas Baptist preyed on the Cougars weaknesses and were able to run away with the game half way through the second. They had their biggest lead by 21 points with five minutes left. Point Guard,
Zach McLemore led Christian with 16 points, followed by newcomer
Andre Lane with 15 points. One and only senior
Wayne McCullough did an outstanding job defensively and offensively recording a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
