CCU traveled to Grand Junction, CO on Friday night to take on Colorado Mesa University. The Mavericks won in three sets 25-19, 25-20, and 25-20. CMU continued to dominate conference play as they improved their record to 13-3.
The offensive weapon on the night for the Cougars was junior
Mollie Bailey as she had nine kills. Christian had 48 digs on the night led by sophomores
Joelle LeFevre with 11, and
Abigail Bartalo with 10.
Despite the loss, coach
Andria Harshman was positive about how her team played on the night, "We have been working hard on executing on serve receive and focusing on controlling our energy at this point of the season. We played with such a tenacity this evening and even though we got beat in three it's not one of those matches that feels like a loss. We're getting better each day and we are looking forward to a big conference match tomorrow at Westminster."
The loss drops the Cougars to 11-15 overall and 7-9 in conference play. They are back in action Saturday night as they head to Salt Lake City, UT to take on Westminster College with a game time scheduled for 7pm MST.
