CCU went into Salt Lake City and came away with a much needed conference win against Westminster College. It was a close match, but Christian was able to hold them off and win in four sets. Aside from the third set, it was all Colorado Christian on the night.
Â
The Cougs dominated offensively on the night as they took the first two sets 25-21, and 25-20. Westminster got one back in the third set winning 25-13, but that was as close as they would get because CCU finished them off in the fourth set 25-20.
Â
Leading the way offensively was freshman
Hope Baldrica. Baldrica had 15 kills on the night and a stellar .778 hitting percentage. Close behind her was junior
Mollie Bailey who tallied 11 kills.
Â
On the receiving end, the Cougars had a strong performance from their libero
Joelle LeFevre as she had 23 digs on the night.
Kylee Wurster chipped in as well with 11 digs, and Abby Bartalo added 10 of her own.
Â
The win improved the Cougars record to 13-14 and 8-9 in conference play. Next up on the schedule will be a mid-week battle with Metro State taking place Wednesday at Metro. Game time is scheduled for 7pm MST.Â
